During the month of November food-lovers will be salivating over the exciting food-related events at the Freeworld Design Centre in Cape Town.
The Freeworld Design Centre in collaboration with Hemelhuijs, local food celebrities and Design Indaba, will be running a delectable series of themed evenings where renowned foodies will be introducing the screening of their all-time favourite food movie, accompanied by a meal designed to fit the movie by food artist Jacques Erasmus of Hemelhuijs.
Each evening kicks off at 6:00pm with sundowners at the Freeworld roofbar, followed by a themed meal follows at 6:45pm, the personalised foodie introduction and the film at 8:00pm. The movie will be screened in Freeworld’s 98-seater, upmarket auditorium.
Guests can choose between the sundowner sessions, the movie-and-meal combo, just the movie, or all three. Tickets are R120 for the meal and the movie (excluding beverages). Tickets for the movie alone are R40. There is no entry fee for the sundowner sessions and a cash bar is available.
The “Food, Foodie and Food Movie” evenings take place on 3, 9,10, 16, 23, 24 and 30 November 2011. At sundowners on 23 November, the Name Your Hood campaign will reveal the name of the hood in which the Freeworld Design Centre is located.
Seating for the food movie nights is limited and tickets can be booked through Webtickets.
The “Food, Foodie and Food Movie” evenings will coincide with the publication of the food-themed edition of Design Indaba magazine. Guest edited by Marije Vogelzang, the magazine will focus on food and eating design and include the likes of Ferran Adrià, Rene Redzepi, Hel Yes!, Kamal Mouzawak, Brian Wansink, Marion Nestle, Carolyn Steel and Paola Antonelli. The magazine aims to make this emerging design discipline more tangible.
